Swim Team

The Nassau Marlins swim team is open to all Nassau members, who are in level 5 of Swim America, or can swim 25 meters of freestyle.  The cost of the swim team in 2008 (new rates for 2009 will be available in early May) is $120 for swimmers 11 and older and $75 for swimmers 10 and under. Practice times for the team will be from 6:30-10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, beginning June 5th, continuing through championship meets the end of July.  Registration is planned for Tuesday, May 30, 2008 at the Yorktown High School Cafeteria from 5:30 to 7:00p. Team suit information will be available at this time.  Nassau swim team will host meets on dates to be determined. Swimmers who are unable to attend a meet should use the sign-out sheet or contact their coach at least one day prior to each meet.

USS / Yorktown Swim Club Swim Team

The USS team will begin practice at the end of April and will conclude at the end of July.  These swimmers are registered with USA Swimming and will pay a fee set by YSC.  USS swimmers who are Nassau members will practice with the Nassau swim team.  Non-Nassau members will practice at Nassau during the designated times as needed, but will be exempt from participating in Nassau swim meets.

Membership News

As the newsletter goes to press, the Club has several openings for new members. Tell your friends that currently there is no waiting list!

We’re continuing to increase e-mail use in order to save on postage and increase communication. To add your address to your member information record just send a short message to aredgar@comcast.net or call Alan Edgar at 759-0117 .

Please contact us also if you have an actual or planned change of address, phone number or member information (new children, sitters, etc.) Member information is always considered private and is only used for Club business.

Sitters and Grandparents - Please remember that sitters must be registered if the sitter is not already a Club member. The Club charges members $25 per year to register a sitter. Registered, non-member sitters are allowed to use the pool only when they are working and the children are in attendance. Members who are grandparents are welcome to bring their visiting, out-of-town grandchildren to the pool for free.

With that I welcome you all on behalf of the Board and myself to a safe and fun summer. I plan on being at the pool as often as possible myself – please feel free to stop by, say Hi, and let me know how we can better serve you.
